This is a shot of my bike when I first finished it back in say 1978 or so. I bought it stock and yes sawzall'd the heck out of it. By rod840 at 2009-08-11 Except for the mufflers and airfilters, the motor was stock... By rod840 at 2009-08-11 Next was stage III just cause I wanted to go a little faster... By rod840 at 2009-08-11 750 kit, Norris cam, Martek electronic ignition, Lectron carbs, and straight Hooker headers. By rod840 at 2009-08-11 A friend did the paint for $100... Doing a little work here so the seat and filters are off... By rod840 at 2009-08-11 Note: Back in the day ... speedo not required... By rod840 at 2009-08-11

I like that so much more than a hard tail because it look nice and I'll bet it rides nice too. seeing that make me want to build one, but work that nice would take years.

Hey Richard thanks man... that means alot The frame is undergoing some modifications, welding little tabs here and there, completing some of the things I missed on the last go round. For instance replacing the front end with a later model... as shown... and a bunch of other stuff that is nothing but time and money... time and money... This is the direction it was heading in when I started the second go round in the 80's. Subsequently life intervened and the bike was boxed. It's been about a year now and the engine is 90% complete. I'll post some pics on that when I get them together and uploaded. Since then I have changed direction a bit and decided to swap the front end, not install the oil cooler, etc... I have a 7" (or so) headlight from Mike's as well as the aluminum mounting ears and a full set of stock gauges now. I've gotten some opinions that I shouldn't depart from the "chopper" look with the newer front end, headlight, and gauges, but I do have a certain affection for functionality. I'll never be a canyon race kinda guy and it is great to go straight as my rear tire will tell you. I'll update the pics to where I am now and fill in on where I am in the frame mod process. Especially gotta post new pics now that I have my new lift! YO!

It's looking good Rod. That new front end looks realy nice on it and the polished fins on the cylinders look great too. It looks like you have spend a lot of money but it will be amazing when it's done :-)

Plan is to run it this spring primered. Yes... the money factor (sigh), fortunately it comes in little bursts for the bigger stuff and I just stash a couple of bucks a week till I get enough to spend. I try to stay focused on say two specific parts at a time. While I was doing the motor i just dabbled with the frame. Right now it's the frame and the mounting of electrical components. One of the young guys in my neighborhood asked me if I was going to sell it when I'm done... I almost choked ... him...

Still under development here... Some shots I took today of what I've been tinkering on for the past months. Alot of the work, you can't see, that's what I keep telling people. This is a different tank, little bigger, dual cap and sits a little lower. The gussets in the neck are larger and longer, and I added the Dyna coils, my son and I fabbed up the bracket and got a good neighbor buddy to weld it up. Other little frame refinments as well and a couple more to go. Figure to have it apart again, together once more then off for primer. I'll run the primer for awhile to make sure it all functions and see where the money is for final paint... some day. There is also a shot of the billet cam chain adjustor cover that my bro Richard spun up. Doing a mock-up for a horse shoe battery box, but am still wondering about the 10 lbs of ... in a 5 lb bag... Installed the headlight and gauges for this go round too. Get alot of "reaction" from some on the stock gages and oversized headlight on this build... but I want functionality as well so... Well got my own camera now and maybe I'll get to keep it. Mock-up here... probably a rolled up magazine... We ordered the chrome moly tubing on-line and cut it to size. Hacksaw, grinder, filed, welded, grind file and finish... My son and I found some plug wire to add finishing touches to the mock-up... immedialey led to the modification and fitment of the clamps at the valve covers, like the one for the Electronic ignition harness on the intake side. Yo, Rod

You can "shave" them off in place using an Xacto knife. Looks like a new HF lift table as well - one of my best buys in a long time. I have their motorcycle tire changer as well - very nice after a few mods.

Gotta agree there 5twins, the table is one of my best investments for the garage... just makes it feel professional. Would love to add a welder to the shop... take some classes even. Will definitely try shaving the gaskets, you don't think it would hack up my powder or ceramic coatings?
