Yo Richard, That's still the 32 spoke hub with a 21" wheel. Plan is to pop the bearings from the 64 spoke hub and get it chrome plated. I spoke with one of the guys from Wheel Works in Garden Grove at their stand at a local bike show. Don't know anyone there personally, but have been going there since the 80's and they are fairly renowned locally. They can do either aluminum or steel rims with custom spokes etc. Plan is to stick with the 21" chrome rim with 64 standard type spokes. My rear wheel is still good except for that circa 1976 Goodyear tire... frikkin thing is impregnated with Armor All… only thing it would be good for is driftin and burn outs… I ain’t down for driftin…

I just dismounted a 16 inch rear tire about that same vintage the other day. It was a beast to get off the rim. Without rim protectors it would have been ugly.
Chroming stuff is expensive now. I have an 18 inch rim that the chrome has become thin on. I want it rechromed If you find a good chrome shop let me know. The last place was ok but kind of expensive, they did oxide powder then chrome over that. The powder base makes the chrome look great on fenders, but I don't know how that would work on rims with spoke holes that take a lot of stress.

Well I did get to work sorting out some problems on my silver/gray bike last weekend, but things have been pretty hectic here lately. I'm hoping to get back to the street fighter brakes and front wheel spacing in about a month. I re-torqued the head on the 71 again and I replaced the tires because they were getting thin. This time went with a lower profile rear tire on the, it made a big difference in handling and put the RPMs right in the sweet spot. Now I don't have to feather the clutch so much on takeoff. 32 teeth with a 130/90 was a bit much 130/80 is like a one tooth difference in RPM and 1/2 inch lower in height. It's a lot less twitchy with the grooves on the road now. This new set are Bridgestone BT-45R I really like them. I look forward to those pics Rod I'm sure it will look way cool. :-)
