I was down at my Local Yamaha shop yesterday looking at the new bikes when word came thru that one of the owners of the shop, an old friend, had gotten dusted on his way home for lunch. He was riding a 1000cc Suzi V-Strom on his way home when a van made a left turn in front to him. The Suzi is a wreck but my friend only has a broken clavicle and three broken fingers, plus a good case of road rash. My friend is an experienced rider and has been riding/wrenching bikes since the mid 70's, and I'm sure his experience kept things from getting too ugly, but keep in mind that we all have to remain alert and by all means be careful. Words to live by Bikerman. We have to assume everyone is about to hit us... one of them likely will at some point. I am glad to hear your friend will make out o.k.. The dreaded left hand turn. Man... I don't know what's wrong with motorists. I got it the very same way back in '85. After, I asked the "lady" why she pulled in front of me. She had been sitting there at a standstill while I came up the whole length of the street. There were zero other vehicles on the road to distract her. At the very final moment, she punched it... I had no chance. She was very upset and said she had no idea why she took me out. Who knows...

Yep, there are two types of riders, those who have fallen off, and those who have yet to fall off. The worst accident I ever had was when a rider behind me pulled along side of me to tell me that I should turn left up ahead, and his front brake lever and my clutch lever locked together. When we pulled them apart, the front wheels went together and we went down at 50 mph. We wasted two bikes and had road rash from head to toe. It was a learning experience ;D
