I just spent two weeks with an old friend and his wife from Ireland who came to Ohio for a visit. My friend rides a Triumph triple in Ireland, so it came as no surprise that he wanted to ride on some of our American roads. I gave him his choice of riding my 03 Yam V-Star or the 81 XS650H, so without hesitation, he latched onto the XS650H. We spent two weeks together exploring the roads of Ohio and most of it on the bikes, and to say the very least, he was impressed with our country. The XS650H and the V-Star performed as typical Yamaha do, that is to say they both were flawless. I have to say that when the chips were down the old Yam came thru like a champ, and it sent my friends home with fond memories of our great country and the people who live here. Ain't it great the friends you make and the people you meet while riding a motorcycle. Bikerman

That's excellent Denny. Glad to hear you and your friend had a great time. Can't beat the XS! (And the V Star) Was that your friends first bit of riding in the U.S.? My wife and I just got back from our trip as well. We had an awesome time. Just over 4800KM. (Just short of 3000miles) Through Canada to Saskatchewan and back through the U.S.. We were dodging the rain front that was chasing us! We took the H-D's though, don't tell anyone! Ooops, too late...
Talk to you soon, G Man

H.D.'s huh? Well that's ok as long as you were on two wheels. That sounds like a good trip..3,000 miles on a bike ain't too shabby. No it wasn't my friends first time on American roads, he was here in 1977, but we have both aged a bit since then. I told him to dial in on my tail light and not to venture over to the wrong side of the road. He took to the old XS650H like a duck takes to water. Glad you had a good trip, you should have stopped in Ohio, I'd have bought you a cold one. Denny
