Hi guys, I am a new member from Davis, CA where the weather today was superb !! Anyway, obtained a parts bike 1983 Maxim, and noticed that yes, it is a completely different bike from the xs650.
1) it is 4 cylinder, dual overhead cam 2) it has a different shaped headlight bucket and gages
BUT !! I wanted to see if any of you know about the disk brakes, fenders, handle bars and wheels. I would especially like to know if I can change from wire-spoked wheels to the mag wheels used by the Maxim.
Any ideas ?
Cheers,
ucdyamaha

Hi Ucdyamaha! Good to hear from you. Wasn't leaving you hanging... just looking into parts fitment between the two. I don't imagine much is the same... but on the other hand, just monster garage it! Anything can be retro fitted with the right amount of ingenuity. Talk to you soon, G Man ;D

Cool Gman, thanks for the reply. On a couple of things such as wheels, I am going to make measurements to see if they could be interchanged. The Herritage has the classy wire wheels and all, but I prefer the MAG wheel of the Maxim.
Cheers,
Eric ;D

I took a look at some of the parts and here's what I've found so far:
1) The Chrome rear fender doesn't fit 2) The headlight bucket might fit, and also the front turn signals (which bolt into the headlight bucket) 3) Gagues are completely different 4) Side Reflectors and turnsignal plastic are similar 5) Tank looks like it could fit, but is bigger 6) CAM chain seems to be same SPEC, but different manufacturer (probably different length also)
