Well I got this idea I want a dual purpose bike and have to sell the '78 to get the $$$. It is unmolested and I've put on an 18 tooth front sprocket and thats about all.. 17,000 miles and runs perfect. All there is wrong with it is a very slight oil leak after you run it all day it leaks about a teaspoon of oil from the left cylinder. any ideas what I should aim for? I'm probably goingto list it on Ebay, and I also want another one , a project bike to work on ..make one up of my own.. tommie

Our beloved bikes are appreciating a little more all the time. Some good resources to figure out what to ask for your bike would be eBay, the local Trader magazines and maybe the newspaper want ads. We have Blue Books with bike values, but they don't cover back to the seventies. Ultimately, what you ask is going to be a factor of what you may have into it, what you could bear to let it go for and last of all what you require for the purchase of your next bike! Always remember, " If you don't ask high, you won't get high" You can always re-post your ad at a lower price but you can very seldom raise it. With that said, here in my area we may see something like yours posted privately for around $1500.00 to $2000.00. (Canadian) Good luck! G man p.s. Don't leave us if you sell your bike!

I'll never leave I love this site I just hope when spring comes it doesn't get too out of hand hahah. I fully expect it to be a thriving community soon. I have a spare engine that has only around 3200 miles on it!! It was a parts bike and it was running strong.. but no title.. I ended up parting it out all but the engine. I 'm still looking for a rigid frame to staart my chopper project. I contemplated cutting up the original frame and it seemed like a bad idea. I had wanted one bone-stock XS650 and another one.. 70's style chopper! I really hardly ride this bike much and feel like I could capitalize on it.. I got a good deal on it when I bought it and figure I can either get a ready-made rigid frame or find a used one altho that seems to be a dream! I wish I could find an Amen frame or even justa full rigid but they go for so much $$ I almost choke!! by the way I sold parts on EBAY to New Zealand, Canada Australia and all ove the USA!! Two alloy wheels went to Australia and the guy is sooooo happy!! Shipping was 70 bucks hahahaha see you all later!! tom
