I have a 78 standard and im wondering if the exhaust is one piece or if it disconects about mid point. I don't think it will but Im hoping someone with more experiece will reinforce my thoughts. Also what is the easiest way to completely dismantle the exhaust. Thanks and HELP!!!!! ;D

If its like my 79, then the two pipes will seperate from each other but the mufflers are welded to the head pipes.

I'm sure you've figured it out by now, but maybe this could help someone else. The exhaust is one piece. The cross over (in front of the rear wheel) will separate after loosening the band located on the right side of the crossover (and removing the bolts/nuts retaining the exhaust). I believe the crossover band takes a #3 phillips.
As for removal. Remove all bolts & nuts which fasten the exhaust to the chassis/motor, loosen the band on the crossover, then carefully (as not to damage the pipes) pry the exhaust from the studs on the chassis.
