Hey guys, new to these forums and the XS. Just picked one up a few weeks ago. 1981 w/ 7200 original miles. Has the stock pipes on it, not loud enough for me personally. I'm looking for noise and performance. Wondering if i should just buy new 2-1's off mikesxs, or just get new mufflers? (keep in mind i live in florida and there are NO inspections for motor vehicles down here) thanks!

Depends on what kind of riding you do. If you corner hard, you'll find yourself grounding 2-1 systems in the right-handers. If that's not an issue for you, 2-1 systems will, with proper jetting, deliver good power and reduce weight substantially. The Mac 2-2 system will give you 1/8" more inside diameter than the stock head pipes, and that's enough to make a difference. Mac makes straight-through glass pack baffles for both systems.
