Hi, I am new here and also, I did recently get hold of a 1971 XS 650 in lousy condition with a front wheel drum brake. On the outside of the brakes all the parts for the brake linkage are missing. Does anyone know somewhere to buy these brake linkage parts?

Some of the parts are still available new from Yamaha so any dealer should be able to get hold of them, see here www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xs1-1970-1973_model8375/partslist/G-01.html#results for part numbers. Other than that, ebay in the USA is your friend, there is a possibility that some parts may be interchangeable with the German market SR500 or even YR5/YDS7 2 strokes but you'd need to cross reference part numbers to confirm. Good hunting Max

No problem Tomas. I've got a Yamaha RD200/CS5 front drum hub which I believe is the same as YR5/YDS7 so if I can help with any dimensions just let me know.

Hi folks, please take a look at the attached picture, it is not a Yamaha XS1 I think, it doesnt not look the same as the one on my XS1, but which model is this front wheel from? It is an alumina spoke. Second, I tried to find the long link arm, and the return spring that is located behind the longer link arm, these can not be found on ebay, does anyone have an idea of where to get these parts?

That's a 1990's German market SR500 wheel Tomas. Any Yamaha dealer should be able to get your missing parts using the numbers here www.pieces-yam.com/yamaha-pieces-catalogue-7045-26.html You might find some parts on ebay.de, try looking for "The tired Kraut" (username der-muede), he always has lots of rare SR500 parts. Thank's a lot, couldn't imagine that front drum brakes were used in the 90'ies. Do You have any idea where to find the linkage arm and spring for a 650 XS1? The arm is not the same as on Your RD200 Picture.

There are a couple of XS650 specialists in Europe (where in the world are you?) Jerry Heiden in Holland www.heidentuning.com/ And the XS650 shop in Germany www.xs650shop.de/front_content.php?idcat=3&lang=1 They might be able to help with used parts, the major problem is the XS1 was never sold officially in Europe/UK so your search really needs to be concentrated in the US or Japan, either ebay.com or Yahoo auction Japan auctions.yahoo.co.jp/ There are several other XS650 forums, most seem to be US based so try asking there, other than that, I strongly suspect that parts from that German market SR500 will fit, try der-muede on ebay.de or any of the other bike dismantlers in Germany, I reckon it's worth the gamble if you can find used parts at a reasonable price? Good luck Max
