It appears the time is soon approaching that I'll be letting my baby acquire a new caretaker. It will be available to members of this forum first, because I trust you nutbags to treat it with respect unlike whoever might show up from Craigslist or Ebay just looking for an old bike to beat on. The main reason I haven't taken the big leap yet is...well...it's not clean enough for photos just yet. Health and available time have kept me from keeping it presentable most of this year, but it keeps running and looking better overall each season. This is kind of a testing of waters, to see if any of you would be interested. By 'unmolested', I mean it's not hacked up or highly modified. Lots of upgrades and tlc in the last 5 or so years. I should have some current decent pics soon though. I live in SE Michigan, and I know the members here are scattered to the 4 corners. Just wanted to see first if there is any interest before I blather on with details and possibly bore half of you to sleep. Thanks! - Dan

Sorry to hear that you're hanging up your helmet, Dan. Roadworthy specimens are rare, and I'd bet even money that you'll be able to pick and choose among buyers.

Ohhh no, not hanging it up. Maybe putting it in a closet for a short while. I love the bike, which is why I hate to give it up, but between the hinged neck and back, and the wonderful battery draining effects of possible MS (so they say...sort of), I just don't get to ride that much currently. A scoot that buzzes less and lets me stretch out a bit for comfort is what I need. I'm just too tall to ride the XS comfortably for more than 30 minutes without ill effects, despite all the tricks I've used and mods that were made. When I can stay awake enough to ride it, that is. Ever fall asleep on a bike? It IS possible, much to my surprise. Plus I'm finally able to put a garage up after 15 years of trying, and the fundage might get tight, so......sigh. The reasons keep adding up.
I wanted to keep it because a good long-time friend basically gave it to me, as (extreme) over-payment for a mechanical job I did for him. He's the reason I got back on a bike after 25 years, so letting it go was not an option for me. He passed away last October, and it took this long to accept that I might be better off to find it a new home after all. I refuse to put it up for sale until it's been thoroughly cleaned and gone through, and that might take a few weeks or more, just testing the waters here to see if there's any interest. There are pics posted in various threads here, not sure how easy it is to hunt them down. If anyone's interested I can post a pile from the last few years, it's still the same bike, not much has changed.
