I have a 1977 D model. I have just replaced fork stantions and springs, what a difference, but the forks are now topping out badly. Its a big thud of metal to metal. I notice some other models have a spring on the Damper body to stop this. The manual of my model doesn't show this. So how do you stop it. I didn't notice it before as the springs were that soft they never pushed the forks upright anyway.
Any help much appreciated chris r

Yeah, Chris, for some reason Mama Yama didn't see fit to furnish top out springs with the D model. You can install top out springs from later forks without a problem. Send me a PM if you can't find a pair.

Thanks for the offer.
I have since fitted a large rubber grommet approx. 5mm thick to each leg. This has stopped the clanking. These springs you have, would the old fork springs cut down to say 20mm long do the job. They would fit the damper rod as they are the same diameter. Chris r

I don't know if a piece of fork spring would work, but it's certainly worth a try. Let us know how it works!
