hi there, new 650 owner, just got a US import, 1977 'D' in need of restoration, I've liked these bikes for many years now finally own one ;D Its been off the road since July 1992, according to the licence plate, seems to have had charging fault, as brushes are missing and the earth wiring is burnt out....now rewired, carbs rebuilt, and running straight off a battery after 3 days with me! Boyer digital kit now here, ready to fit, and a Hughs PMA kit is on its way, new battery next then its ready to run

Hi and welcome... Don't forget your suspension components... some of them get a bit sticky after sitting for decades... Good luck with your "restoration"... that word is very well respected here. In my opinion you should be checking your wheel bearings, neck bearings, swing-arm travel, brakes, shocks, cables... a bunch of stuff bro.

Well good news! My bike passed its Mot (annual inspection, legal requirement) without a problem I can now register it as a UK bike and get a registration number, then I can get on the road, will only take a few more days. I've just replaced the front fork oil, had the sliders off to polish them, and ordered a pair of Hagon rear shocks, so thats basically the whole bike restored!
