My engine number is 650-127746. Can anybody tell me what year model it is? If it makes a difference,I live in South Africa. Any other South Africans?

Thanks, I think it's a 1972 xs2. I have a compression release at my left hand exhaust valve My passenger footrests hangers is like the first one's And I can't find a starter on the bike
So it must be, or can I be wrong?

I think the XS 650 went "ELECTRIC" in 74

They first used the electric starter in 72. In 74 they deleted the decompressor. Stronger starter and battery eliminated the need. It is easy to remove the starter. If it has one it will be on the bottom of the engine behind the transmission. Leo
