Fitting a new electronic Speedo & Tacho to my XS650 Special 1980! The original setup was mechanical. Question is are there any mods I need to do after fitting the electronic setup? ?

I don't know what kind of mods you have in mind or which of the many electronic instruments out there you're installing. You may need to do a few things that aren't included in the instruction sheet for your instrument.
Re. the tach, you'll need to cap off the mechanical cable drive in the engine cover. The easiest way to do that is to cut the flare off the end of an old cable housing, salvage the knurled nut, seal the open end of the nut with JB Weld, let cure, and reinstall. Hook up the tach to the negative terminal of the coil. With your system (one dual-tower coil), calibrate the tach for 1 pulse per rpm. If your tach readings spike, come on back--there are cures for that.
