hi all, new to the forum, and not really sure where to start. The bike. US 650 Custom, owned for 21 years. Stuck in garage for the last 10. We have decided to start from scratch, but have already found flaws in the plan. Where do we get a new exhaust system from, do the guys in the States ship to the UK, the site we found www.nichecycle.com say that the pipes we need will fit every XS650, is this true Oh Guru's Thats the first of our worries. the seat is at the repairer's vikingmotorcycleseats.co.uk, so thats all good. The frame is quite rusty, so we're gonna strip it down, get it blasted and powdercoated. If you get a chance to post, we could really use a good site, (with pretty pictures) to help us decide where best to spend our hard earnt. Will post a picture of the project, once we work out how to do it. Regards Abigail and Paul.

rustbucket, Well, I for one could not see an opening to help you. Parts sources for the UK are not well represented here. If you had some specific technical questions, someone would have helped out. If you need an ignition system, I do ship to the UK. www.yamahaxs650.comGood luck

I don't check the forum everyday when I’m working on a project however I would be glad to help if I could. I don't know much about the goings on in the UK but, I am pretty sure Mike's or 650Central would be willing to ship to the UK, I think there is an affiliate in the Neatherlands that has all the same stuff we have here. I have seen a lot of parts on Ebay located in the UK too but, there is usually more parts activity in the spring time.
This forum is most helpful when you have a specific question and state the year of your bike because the year it’s made really matters when you’re talking about which part will fit and function properly. The main thing is figuring out which engine model you have and it's all down hill from there. So enlighten us, Tell us what you have and we’ll see if we can help?

Geez... You haven't even touched the bike for ten years and get all testy when nobody replies to your general questions in two days. Some people can be busy doing other things. Lots of great advise from the members to be had here. If you are going to start off being that impatient, then off you should go... G Man

I'm thinking they were expecting a chatroom or an instant message kind of thing. Just be glad there aren't Lucas Electrics on these bikes, I get the feeling an entire server would be needed just to keep up with that subject.

I'm out of state... trying to keep the fam fed, housed , and clothed... then maybe some shiny stuff for me. First... I agree with G Man... You guys remember the muffler commercial, I think it was Midas (?), they had a one size fits all muffler... just love all that bolt on stuff... no modifications required... just add love! In the mechanical world love = receipts... no receipts, no love...
