trying to figure out the best way to do it. the yam drum of yore has a notch so a tab would have to be replicated on the fork tube and i foresee strength issues. i could switch to a Honda front end but then I'd have to modify the Yam axle because the Honda's will be shorter. any other ideas?

Be careful on that. If the drum is not anchored well it could break loose and rotate, taking up the slack in the brake cable and lock up the front end. I have seen people weld an anchor point on the fork leg and I have seen a clamp type anchor points but if any of it failed you would sure pay the price.

thx rich. that's my concern. think i'm just going to go with a CB front end. they're both 35mm and the drum uses an arm vs the notch system on the yamahas.

I know it's not what Yamaha used but I have always favored the arm over the notch because it seemed less likely to fail.
