I have several pair of boots but the toes are too big to fit under the shift lever. I like the feel of my Nike's while riding but I know that is not the best option. Just curious what you guys wear for shoes and feet protection?

Well the more protection you can get the better, but I understand the effect of big clunky boot on a shift lever. It’s always a trade off. I wear Hi-Tec boots in the summer but I have a set of leather boots too I use for trips. Leather is you best protection against road burn, but in the summer it can get hot.
I have a set of Motocross boots that are really comfortable but I have never worn them on a street bikes because I didn’t want to look like a dorky Mad Max. :-)

I can hear ya on the motocross boots Richard. I found some Sketchers leather boots and I think if I move the shifter up one notch it will be a good combo. I have seen guys wearing everything from Converse All-Stars to flip flops when riding. Some people just don't value their feet while riding.

I find a pull-on type to be best, something with no laces. Shifting will eventually break the laces. My favorites are East German army surplus boots. A while back these were widely available for as little as $20. I bought 4 pairs, lol. They are a heavy leather construction and have a nice non-slip rubber sole with not too high of a heel. Best motorcycle boot I've ever worn and I have specific biker ones that cost as much as $200. Alas, the supply is dwindling but you can still find them on eBay although the choice of sizes is also shrinking. cgi.ebay.com/German-Enlisted-Unissued-Leather-Combat-Boots-Sizes-/380298732331?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588b92232b

Barefoot if i'm wearing my paper helmet at other times my wooden clogs they match my wooden false teeth. If i'm feeling totally ruthless, you will see me shooting down the highway in a pair of Moccasins I stole of a dead Indian at Wounded Knee.
