Hey guys, let's post some more cafe racer photos!
My 74 bobber project is on hold for now while I concentrate more on a 75 mild cafe. Improved utility first: low bars, bar-end mirrors, sturdier progressive springs fore and aft, tapered headset bearings and bronze swingarm bushings. Hell, just taking the front apart and putting it back together for the first time in more than a third of a century should tighten things up a bunch.
Then abbreviate the fenders and flashers, classier paint, black cylinders, fork and tank rubbers, etc. Sort of a Brit twin look, but without the pool of oil.
Got the "before" pics now and will post them with "afters" after.
I have a stock seat I'll leave alone, and a recovered one that I might skin and remove half the foam. Anyone already been where I'm going on the seat? Maybe a pic of a bare pan I can look at?
Thanks in advance for advice, warnings or inspiration!

No pics yet, got my 80 running today, I just wanted to make sure it was mechanically sound before I started modifying. I'm thinking cafe, straight bars, bar ends, I have a set of Conti replica pipes I'd like to make work. I'd also like to add a crossover in the exhaust a few inches out of the heads. I have a set of DelOrto pumper carbs that fit the stock manifolds, they are 30mm but I can have them machines to 34 or 36. I'm thinking stock tank, cafe seat and rear-sets. I'd like to fit a newer front end with dual discs, we'll see how that goes.

How about some real "factory" cafes? Don't get me wrong, I just love my 650 but it will never be anything close to an exotic European bike like my LeMans ..... ..... real clip-on handlebars, giant 40mm Dellorto pumper carbs, and Italian quirkiness, lol.

Check the aussie site for xs cafes,There"s a guy ivan who builds some nice stuff he"s a good machinist and has alot of performance upgrades for the xs. sure there"s some here but the bobber thing is the fad in the states and on most of the sites right now imho.
