I signed up a coupla weeks ago, I've posted and I've watched the replies on other threads. No-one is posting. What gives? No-one wants to reply on the post. Thats the fun of doing this, I live in nowhere G.a., no body else has one of these bikes. I would like to see more people opening up. If you read my post, reply!!!! I don't want to see this site die. This post is a response both to the above post as well as a PM received today.
Hello and thank you for the review. We are happy to have any and all XS owners and fans. With that said, the total # of members of our humble little XS forum is 151. A fairly small group. Also note that the majority of the members in the 151 total have either joined and never posted or have just not come back at all. It has been my experience that approx only 10% of the total number of members in a forum contribute by posting. That puts it right about where we are at with our small member list and the amount of posters. Our people generally belong to a number of other forums as well as the matter of day to day life getting in the way of hanging out here to post. That's o.k.. Great people here and everyone does what they can. It's all for fun anyhow, isn't it? It shouldn't feel like work. I would be more than happy to respond to any post you might make, when and if I can offer something of any value. As I look at your total post count and the body of all of the posts themselves, I really didn't see any direct questions other than your wanting an opinion on your proposed hardtail/coffin death themed XS project. I love any and all interpretations of the XS. I have said so before. Yours sounds very interesting and I earnestly look forward to following along with the build. Apologies for not mentioning that earlier. I myself would not go that route with my build up, but that is just me. Perhaps that is why I did not post immediately. That does not mean that I would not enjoy your project, through your posts and pics. Being the creator and admin of this forum I sometimes have a tendency to wait for others to respond before I chime in with my two cents. Mostly because as much as I love the XS, it is not my specialty. I own a few motorcycles and have four of my own forums to maintain. No excuses, just where I am coming from. The only other question of yours was wanting to know if anyone was interested in purchasing your take off parts. I figure that is kind of a for sale ad and needed no response except from someone actually interested in those parts. I am sure after more than just a few days, someone may respond. So to summarize... as I see you post more direct questions, I am sure myself or others will try to post useful responses for you in a reasonably timely fashion. I am also sure you will do the same for current and hopefully future members as well. That is how we keep this place from "dying".
Looking forward to talking to you soon, G Man

Thanks for the response, G man. I had overlooked certain aspects of the board before I posted yesterday. I really apologize for being so quick to judge, I check the board when I get in, after 2 mail accounts and my e-bay. Its my wind down time and I want to be able to chat and share ideas with others. As my wife says, You're stuck with me now. LOL, D.A.W.

Yes it is addictive ! I belong to several of the XS650 boards and try to support each one of them. However having so many XS650 boards available to the XS650 owner can be a good thing, each board has a little something to offer. The problem I have is finding something new and intelligent to offer. That ain't easy for me. ;D XS

I'm on a rowdy scooter forum as well, and it is very fast paced. There's a good amount of spam, but for the most part, the info is getting out there. I've looked into the other XS650 forums, and the only thing I can think of is that the XS si just a lesser known bike. They need to be tricked out to get any attention. The SR400 has been reissed in Japan since the 90's, so being a newer model makes it so popular over there. Parts companies make tons of parts for them and there are many custom shops that offer Sr chops, racers, and trackers.
This is a new bike for me so I dont know all the small details, but I have a good collection of what has been done. I hope to get as much info up here as possible.

I joined several; years ago. Posted twice and then my computer crashed. I lost everything. And consequently, in the process of finding all my bookmarks I got involved with the KLR boards. Been riding that bike for a while and put the 2 XS's on the back burner.
Well, last week a KLR buddy of mine went up into my gym above the garage to use the bathroom and saw my Yellow XS Street Tracker project sitting on the metal assembly table. (I stored the frame, tank and seat/fender up there to keep it from getting scratched or dusty.) He went nuts over it and insit in helping me finish putting it back together. So, I kinda got my interest back in getting the old girls running again. At least one of them. I saw the engine under one of the work benches the other day out in my shop, still in about 4 milk crates and still dirty. The frame and body parts are painted, stripped and everything. I will try and post up my pictures of it as soon as photobucket gets them in my albumn.
I stalled out on it because I can't make up my mind if I want to leave it stock or punch it out to a 750cc. Having lived with many tempermental race prepared engines for years, I'm not so sure I need that kind of aggrivation. I'm liking being able to jump on my KLR and just go! So the jury is still out on whether I do the port polish, cams and carbs thing on the Strret Tracker. I'd really just like to ride it soon.
But my motorhome needs some work too! And that sucker is expensive to work on.
So there ya go. Some of us just got busy else where!
It gets difficult to juggle all that goes on in our lives, I guess. I've got too many projects.

My experience with forums is that it is summer. Come winter things will pick up.
