On a '75 XS650B, are the headlight ears and bucket painted Star Black or is it just a generic black? They're black on my '75, but all the paint is faded enough that I can't tell if it has the fine metal flake like the tank and side covers.

The headlight ears and bucket are the metallic Star Black on my '75.

I'm told that a Honda automobile color is a nearly exact match...anyone have a clue as to what year/model?

Here's something that was sent to me on a mailing list.
"Scott;
I sell new Honda cars for a living. The paint is B92P Nighthawk Black Pearl. It is a black with gold metal flakes in it. Any auto paint shop should be able to mix it for you.
This paint was on 2008 Honda Accords and some other Honda models."
I SURE don't know for certain, but I would've never thought it had gold in it. The restored bike I saw at Barber had very small, very fine silver flakes that were spaced far apart. Doesn't mean it was correct, just saying.... I wish someone out there had an original '75 or '78 in nice shape (was recently told some '78's had Star Black paint) they could take to a paint shop and have matched.

There is a Honda paint that is black with with just a hint of metallic. It isn't nearly as new as the 2008 that was mentioned.I know it was used on a Civic, but do not remember the exact year. I may still have some and will look and report back. It may be a real good match as I remember this paint, you could barely tell it had any metallic, just like the 75 XS650.
