Hi xcafe,Always had bikes mostly British iron then bought an xs (because it was a bit like my old triumph trophy 500) from Tony Hall in Salisbury an American 650 special import that Tony restored in 90 something ,I can't remember of hand, but I toured Europe and Ireland england Wales and Scotland on it, then bought myself a suziki ls650 one carb one piston one plug belt drive, now I now have two of them and a Jawa 350 combo grand tool for the winter, easier to stay upright on three legs. Yup, there still arguing about the wind farms, and Man! the guga and new potatoes, Im in heaven just got four of them about three weeks ago, bit pricey this year £16 each, but worth every penny,,I think this a US site, where are you and where about in the islands were you staying,, all the best to you ,,,kenny

yea...i grew up with brits too - was pretty much all you could get except for indian scouts left over from the american occupation during wwII, some jawas, some harleys and honda dreams traffic police rode bonnies, the jappers had been slowly coming in and during the early '70s the xs, cb,z and gt's became very popular...when the cops changed to honda and bmw bonnies became very cheap-no one wanted them - then the oil crisis came and you couldnt give big bikes away - a collectors dream i loved (and still do) the 500 singles but also had a sweet spot for that ol single carb trophy
i think youve gotta grow up with guga, still, theyre kinda like the muttonbirds at home (theyre sorta all right when smoked) - i'll take salmon anyday...
