Hi all, I'm the New Guy here. I joined two days ago and am just now posting.
My Bio:
I live in Texas, where we have 4 weeks of winter and 11 months of motorcycle weather.
Been riding since I was 12, so that would be 41 years so far. First bike I learned to ride was a Mustang. Two clotheslines and three hedge rows later I learned how to stop it.
I now have about 5 bikes in various states of reconstruction. Two of them are XS650's.
Just painted the 77 this week. It was going to be a Street Tracker but since everybody's building them I thought I'd be a little different with this one. Frame, Omar's rear fiberglass seat and Tank are Canary Yellow with gold and silver metal flake. Oh, and the obligatory Yamaha Bumble Bee stripe. (Had the metal flake left over from another project so I threw it in the mix. Turned out really well. Will be using Omar's Mile exhaust and running dual headlights. Going to stretch and drop the foot pegs down to the bottom of the frame, cause I'm kinda tall for this bike. Actually it will lean more towards a dual purpose look. All brackets & battery box are going to the Chrome Platers. The engine will be slightly tweaked, but not much for now. I'm still new to these old Yamahas. Hondas were my specialty.
Now if I could only find a source for 19" Akron spoked rims for it. But, then again, I may just swap the 19" front to the rear and go with a 21" rim in the front. Disc all the way around.
The 71 will get a full restoration later for two up riding.
Anyhow, Hope to see some more activity on this board, I like to swap stories and ideas.
Later All
Curtis
