[img src="[/img] "]I raced this bike in the 70's, and there is now a resurgence of classic speedway vehicles(30yrs.+) in australia. Classic events are being organised around the country with bikes and cars coming out of the woodwork! This bike is a rephased 750 on methanol. As with the solos they run with no brakes. I also have a 1972 z900 outfit, which is 998cc yoshimura equipt on methanol. Attachments:

Agree, one serious bit of machine there. At the risk of starting a fire, is that a gas cap on the nose? Yikes!

fruitnut, enjoyed looking at your toy.
Tom I think the whole tank is on the nose. Looks like that is just a shroud on the backbone?

g'day fellow bikers, you are right, the fuel tank is in the fairing, an inovation of the period, which allowed the rider to 'slide' forward, both to transfer body weight, and to give the swinger (passenger) more room. the swinger operates from the rear gaurd and swings off the right hand side of the outfit. If you look closely at the photo you will notice the passengers hand grip just behind the front wheel on the right hand side. I still have my '72 z900 outfit as well. I built 17 outfits from memory, including the one that I should have kept, my TZ700!

If you go to www.sewellracingframes.com you will find many photos of current model speedway outfits. these bikes are high tech. and predominately powered by FZR 1000's. Again they are not fitted with brakes. they are a far cry from my old clunkers!

the older I get the smaller my balls get, but it is a unison effort to get these things around a 3 to 400m track. I've found that some-one who has never ridden before are the best to train as a passenger, but, if your keen, be warned, the passenger attrition rate is high!
